Lady Panthers Honored

As the Lady Panthers head toward Regionals this week, they have even more to add to their list of accomplishments in a successful season.  PVHS had three players named to the Coalfied Conference, Senior Madison May and Freshman Ashley Scott on All Conference 1st Team, and Seniors Kaleigh Peyton and Brittany Moore on 2nd Team.  Senior Sparrow Void and Freshman Hannah Justice were named to Honorable Mention.  May is also the leading scorer in the state and broke the school record for points scored in a game.  It's been a year of accolades for May in her senior year being named Player of the Week for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Athlete of the Week for WOAY, Player of the Week for Fox 59, and was also given the Wendy's Heisman.

Scott has also been awarded Athlete of the Week for 102.3 and is the leading three-point shooter in the region.

The Lady Panthers will take on Wyoming Easy in New Richmond Thursday, March 3 at 7 PM.

Boys Basketball Heads

into Sectional Play

The PikeView Panther boys basketball team had a successful night against River View in the Sectional tournament held at Princeton Senior High School on Monday, February 29.  The Panthers routed the Raiders 55-49.   Sectional play continues for the boys at PSHS against the Bluefield Beavers on Wednesday, March 2 at 7 PM.

The Panthers wrapped up their regular season last week with a win against Greater Beckley before heading into sectional play.  With a record of 14-5, the season can be counted as a success.  In addition to leading the team in a five game winning streak in mid-winter, Junior Seth Meadows has also been named as Bluefield Daily Telegraph Player of the Week.
